Key Stage 1 builds upon the experiences of the Kindergarten Foundation Stage, ensuring a smooth transition from Early Years to Primary education. Our skilled Key Stage 1 team is dedicated to nurturing confident, happy, and enthusiastic learners.

Comprising Year 1 and Year 2, Key Stage 1 focuses on laying strong foundations in English, mathematics, science, computing, PE and other subjects. Daily sessions in English and maths help students to develop essential skills and strategies for academic success.

In Year 1, students are assessed on their phonics knowledge, with continued practice in Year 2 to prepare them for Key Stage 2. By the end of Year 2, students undergo assessments in reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, writing and maths, ensuring they are well-equipped for future learning.

Science investigations engage and inspire students, addressing key misconceptions about the world around us. Additionally, Key Stage 1 encourages creativity and artistic expression through structured learning activities, role play and outdoor play. This holistic approach to education ensures that our students thrive academically and creatively during their Key Stage 1 journey.
