POST: Basketball Coach & PE Assistant
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of PE & Enrichment
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Basketball Coaching & Assisting general PE lessons
Main Responsibilities: The following list of responsibilities is not exhaustive but indicates the major requirements of the post. Responsibilities may be amended at a future time, to take account of the developing needs of the school.
Key Purpose: The postholder will:
- Lead or assist in the delivery of high quality PE lessons.
- Lead or assist in the delivery of high quality swimming lessons.
- Specialise in delivering exceptional basketball lessons.
- Keep up-to-date with best practices in the teaching of PE, swimming and basketball.
- Take a professional approach to the planning, preparation and organisation of lessons and activities.
- Support the Head of PE & Enrichment and PE department in the organisation and running of school sports events or wider enrichment activities.
- Lead at least one sports team and accompany them on fixtures – including weekend fixtures.
- Maintain appropriate assessment records, data collection and monitoring information.
- Communicative effectively with pupils, staff and parents.
- Be an active member of all house activities.
- Implement appropriate Health and Safety policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe, effective environment at all lessons and activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of the Early Years Framework and the National Curriculum for England including Edexcel GCSE PE syllabus.
- Be committed to continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the post.
- Be committed to evidence-based teaching and learning strategies in line with the whole school teaching and learning policy.
- To attend meetings, fixtures and marketing events as and when required / directed.
- Maintain sporting equipment and report any repairs required.
- Assist with the organisation of sports fixtures, including preparing pitches/courts, collecting consent forms and booking transportation / lunches / snacks.
- Supervise breaks / lunches as timetabled.
- Take a full role in the wider school community.
- Be fully aware of and comply with TPIS’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
- Provide a police clearance.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as required by the needs of the school.
Please note that the appointed coach/assistant must be available to attend Saturday fixtures and other weekend events
as directed by the needs of the school.

We are now looking for a person who can supervise, support and keep the children in our care safe. The successful candidate will report to and work with the classroom teacher and MLT. Responsible for assisting classroom teachers with the general supervision and managing children, developing resources and monitoring pupil progress.
Qualifications and Skills and Job Purpose:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent and having a Thai teaching licence are preferred.
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Thai.
- TOEIC score of more than 500 is preferred (or the willingness to work hard to achieve this within the first 12 months of employment) and/or a TEFL certificate.
- Be able to apply a wide variety of technology in the workplace.
- Assist in the educational and social development of pupils, particularly second language learners, under the direction and guidance of the class teachers.
- Work alongside children making sure that they are well-cared for and supported in and out of the classroom, including playground supervision before and after school and during the school day as required by the needs of the school.
- Develop children’s independence by allowing them to try activities independently (e.g. eating, toileting, dressing) and stepping in to help only when necessary.
- Contributing to the school’s extensive co-curricular programme through leading activities.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Assist class teachers with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
- Take initiative inside and outside of the classroom. This requires a teaching assistant to be constantly vigilant and aware of the needs of the students as they arise or even before e.g. There is a child in the maths lesson that is struggling to grasp the concept being taught, the TA could get some resources available in the classroom to remind them of a previous strategy they have used for this. This could be done very quietly whilst the teacher continues with the lesson.
