What's happening
Tara Tots Playgroup
At Tara Pattana International School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, because children learn best when they feel safe and cared for. Every member of staff and every volunteer is committed to protecting our students and promoting a strong culture of care and respect.
At our international school in Pattaya, we take all concerns seriously, however small, and respond with discretion, sensitivity and professionalism. In this safe and nurturing environment, students are free to explore, learn and grow with confidence, knowing they are protected and supported every day at school.

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Early Years, Ms Skjeie takes extra care of students mental and physical health. She keeps the line of communication open with families and is always available to discuss a student's development. She runs parent sessions for academics and behaviour, helping guide families through the big emotions our younger students experience, delevelop and learn to regulate.
Ms Edell has been teaching internationally and in the UK for over 11 years, with experience across Thailand, the UAE, China and England. She is an experienced senior leader with a strong background in safeguarding, pastoral systems and curriculum development. As Head of Key Stage 3 and a Designated Safeguarding Lead, she is passionate about creating inclusive, high‑expectation environments where every student can thrive academically and personally. With a specialism in English Language and Literature, she has taught across Key Stages 2–5 and has led whole‑school initiatives, staff development and community engagement.
At Tara Pattana International School, every student is entitled to feel safe, valued and respected, whatever their background or needs. Our safeguarding practices ensure that students are surrounded by caring adults who are trained to identify concerns early and respond quickly, always acting in the best interests of the child.
To protect every child, we ask all parents and visitors to read, accept and sign our Safeguarding Code of Conduct before taking part in school activities. This ensures that everyone on campus understands their responsibility in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for our students.
Parents and visitors are asked to sign the Code of Conduct as well, available in English, Chinese, Thai and Russian.
Monitored campuses
Students benefit from a secure, closely monitored environment supported by CCTV across the school, clear ID procedures for parents and a strict visitor sign-in system.
Online & data safety
All visitors exchange valid ID for a school badge and complete safeguarding and code of conduct requirements, strengthening trust and protection for the whole-school community.
Safer recruitment
Students benefit from a rigorously vetted staff body, appointed through enhanced checks, references and safeguarding interviews that place child safety first, reassuring families and strengthening trust across the whole school community.
Child protection
Protection stays strong through regular safeguarding training for all staff and advanced coaching for Designated Safeguarding Leads, ensuring swift, informed responses that keep students safe and families confident in school practice.
Respect & inclusion
Supportive student–student and student–staff relationships nurture a culture of respect, openness and trust, where concerns are shared early, wellbeing is prioritised and the entire community feels connected and valued.
Social-emotional growth
The Learning for Life curriculum champions healthy body image, self-esteem, consent and digital safety, empowering children to make informed choices, protect themselves and contribute positively to a respectful school culture.
Student contributions
Student Council initiatives give learners a powerful voice in school life, promoting responsibility, collaboration and peer-led advocacy that enhances safeguarding and strengthens the sense of shared ownership across the community.
Mentoring
A structured mentor system for students and staff builds steady guidance networks, offering safe spaces for conversation, early support for emerging issues and stronger bonds that reinforce emotional security and trust.
Pastoral care
Comprehensive pastoral care systems respond to individual needs with sensitivity, helping students feel known and supported while giving families confidence that wellbeing, behaviour and progress are closely and compassionately monitored.
Ongoing safeguarding assessments
Independent safeguarding reviews provide expert external oversight, validating good practice, identifying enhancements and ensuring that the school’s protective measures remain robust, transparent and trusted by the whole community.
Partnership with parents
Specialist-led sessions for parents, usually 2 to 4 per term, guarantee our families the support they need on key educational topics, guided by community interest and needs.
Join us for a joyful morning of play and early learning in a safe environment!
