Early Years Foundation Stage

In our caring Early Years Foundation Stage, children aged 2 to 5 enjoy a joyful step into school rooted in the play-based English National Curriculum, encouraged to explore, question and discover at their own pace.

Our curriculum

At Tara Pattana International School, children take the first steps with the English National Curriculum for Early Years Foundation Stage, based on purposeful play and teacher-guided activities.

Nursery & Kindergarten

At the best kindergarten in Pattaya, children enjoy a gentle structure with plenty of flexibility, so they can learn at their own pace in:

  • English & Maths – a set timetable guides core learning, while open-ended activities allow teachers to follow children’s ideas and questions, building early language and number skills through play
  • Music & Physical Education – two sessions of each every week support rhythm, coordination and gross motor development
  • Thai – five weekly sessions nurture early language, speaking and cultural awareness
  • Splash Play – a weekly water session encourages children to feel brave and safe around water, introducing water safety and building confidence through supervised experiences.

Reception

At our kindergarten in Thailand, children build strong foundations across all areas:

  • English – daily sessions cover phonics, reading, writing and stories, woven into play and circle time
  • Maths – taught every day to strengthen early number sense, counting, simple operations and geometric understanding
  • Physical Education & Swimming – one lesson of each per week, building coordination, water confidence and a positive attitude
  • Music & Art – weekly specialist lessons, supported by open-ended creative activities throughout the week
  • Science – a weekly, enquiry-based session that nurtures curiosity through simple investigations, observation and exploration
  • Thai – four weekly lessons developing language, speaking skills and an appreciation of Thai culture.

Learning Rainforest approach

Learning Rainforest approach

At Tara Pattana International School, children are empowered as curious learners through the Learning Rainforest approach. In our classrooms, they move freely between learning centres: they might design and build bridges with blocks and loose parts, mix colours at the art table to paint stories they have invented, or explore sand, water and sensory trays to test ideas like floating, sinking and volume.

During inquiry time at our private school in Thailand, teachers follow children’s questions and guide small‑group investigations, from planting seeds and making observational drawings to measuring growth and recording findings. Outdoors, children tackle building challenges with crates and planks, create obstacle courses and take part in nature hunts, learning to take managed risks and persevere when something doesn’t work the first time.

Role‑play areas become shops, homes or space stations, where children negotiate roles, use rich language and act out real‑life scenarios.

I love my teacher, Ms Skjeie and playing with my friends. My favourite lesson is phonics. I like singing the songs and writing the letters.

I love playing with my friends. I like the different games we can play and all the different art we get to do together. It is fun when we get to be messy and try new things.
