Teachers use ongoing assessment, formative feedback and regular summative tests to track development against age-related expectations and tailor support where needed. By the end of Key Stage 1, students are assessed in reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, writing and maths, laying secure foundations for the next stage. In Key Stage 2, termly assessments in the same core areas help maintain momentum and readiness for future academic challenges.
Achievement is celebrated through positive feedback, recognition in class and assemblies, certificates and learning showcases, alongside regular communication with parents through consultations and written reports. This balanced approach values both attainment and personal growth, building motivation, confidence and a lifelong positive attitude to learning.
Students develop a broad range of academic, personal and social competencies:
Communication skills – speaking confidently, listening actively and expressing ideas clearly
Collaboration and teamwork – working effectively with others and respecting different perspectives
Independence and resilience – managing learning, persevering with challenges and developing self-confidence
Leadership and responsibility – through student-led roles, classroom responsibilities and participation in school life
Critical thinking and problem-solving – asking questions, making connections and applying knowledge in new contexts
Creativity and curiosity – exploring ideas through practical, artistic and enquiry-based learning.
Guided by our Learner Profile, children grow as confident communicators, resilient learners, independent thinkers, team players, kind and respectful individuals, curious explorers and knowledgeable scholars, developing both the skills and the character to become future-ready leaders and global citizens.
Throughout Primary, students enjoy a rich multilingual pathway in which English as a Second Language, Thai (either as an Additional Language or as a First Language) and Mandarin as an Additional Language are all embedded within the core curriculum. English learning is closely supported: pupils in Year 3 complete Oxford testing to identify strengths and areas for development, and students joining during Key Stage 2 receive targeted additional help in English where needed.
Across all languages, students develop reading, writing, listening and speaking, expand vocabulary, refine pronunciation and build secure grammar foundations. They nurture confident communication and a lasting enjoyment of language learning.
International experiences are woven into everyday learning, inspiring students to see themselves as confident global citizens. Through Eastern Seaboard Activities Conference (ESAC) tournaments in basketball, football and swimming, students test their skills on an international stage.
Enrichment events such as art competitions, reading challenges, science and maths days, and whole-school celebrations like International Day, Songkran and World Book Day bring cultures and ideas to life. Curriculum-linked visits to museums, turtle sanctuaries, Space Inspirium and other key locations, along with residential camps in Years 5 – 6, foster independence, teamwork and resilience.
As part of ISP, learners meet with peers from all over the world in digital exchanges with ILOS, including ISP Chess Masters, ISP Artists, ISP Filmmakers and ISP Cultural Exchange.
At Tara Pattana International School, through a compulsory rich Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme, all students take part in after-school sessions three days a week, discovering new interests and developing wider skills in sport, creativity, leadership and enrichment beyond the core curriculum. Alongside this, a diverse range of paid Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings, delivered by both TPIS staff and specialist external providers, offers even more opportunities for students to deepen passions, stretch their talents and grow as confident, well-rounded learners.
